Costa: I Love Chelsea, But Atletico Remains Home

Diego Costa claims to still love Chelsea, despite a sour ending to his time at the club, after he completed his move to Atletico.

The Spain international was told by Conte he was no longer needed at the club and despite no deal materialising for him in the transfer window, he was missing in action for the Blues.

Costa has now completed a deal that will see him rejoin Atletico in January and he insists he harbours no hard feelings towards Chelsea.

“I’m not going to be ungrateful to Chelsea, where I was also very happy, playing in a team that was great,” the BBC quotes Costa as saying.

“Atletico is my home.”

“It’s not the way I wanted to leave, ever,” Costa said. “I have special affection for the people at Chelsea. I’m not a person who is going to smear the image.

They know the person I am.”

Mourinho: Luke Shaw Must Work Hard For Spot


Jose Mourinho has challenged Luke Shaw to put in work, if he wants to cement his spot as the club’s starting left-back.

The 22-year-old defender made his first appearance of the 2017-18 season, in the 4-1 EFL Cup win over Burton Albion. Shaw has been sidelined since April due to a foot injury and was criticised by Phil Neville, for not giving his all in the match.

“He has to work. Just that,” he told a news conference ahead of Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Shaw’s old side.

“You saw the same as I see. “Are you asking if he plays [on Saturday]? No, he isn’t. He has to work. He has to improve.

“Look, he doesn’t play for six months. I’m not expecting him to arrive on Wednesday and be man of the match or to be running up and down for 45 minutes. It’s a process. He doesn’t play for a long time.”

Dortmund forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has made known his frustration at Real Madrid showing a lack of interest in him.

The Gabon international striker was widely linked with a move away from Germany, with clubs in Europe and China interested in his services.

Aubameyang did not hide his desire to link up with Madrid, but has registered his disappointment at Madrid failing to come for him, after they sold Alvaro Morata.

“I have no dream,” the 28-year-old said when asked if he still dreams of a move to Real. “I shall no longer speak of Madrid. They don’t want me.

Forlan: Neymar Should Respect Cavani


Diego Forlan has stated that Neymar would not have treated his former teammate, Lionel Messi, the way he treated Edinson Cavani.

Neymar and Cavani argued over who would take the penalty in the 2-0 win over Lyon, the Uruguay international won the battle and lost the spotkick.

The former Uruguay international feels his compatriot deserved better and says Neymar would not have treated Messi like that.

Hazard Says, He Improved After A Week Under Conte


Eden Hazard has revealed that it took him just a week to improve under Antonio Conte, after the Italian took over.

The Belgium star spent two seasons under Mourinho and won the Premier League, the Europa League and EFL Cup.

Conte has only been in charge at Chelsea for a season and won the Premier League on first asking, with Hazard playing a vital role for Chelsea.

The Belgium international heaped praise on Conte, saying: “Even after a week I think I had progressed with him.

“But I think he’s shown not just at Chelsea but also at Juve that he’s a good coach and I think he has some good years ahead of him.”

Hazard, who is set to make his first club start of the campaign against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup Wednesday following an injury-interrupted pre-season, added: “There’s a lot of tactics.

It’s not always nice as a forward as you have to run, defend and everything, but at least at the weekend, you know exactly what to do, you can even close your eyes and play. That’s good.

Conte Happy With Morata’s Performance Against Arsenal


Antonio Conte has leapt to Alvaro Morata’s defence, after the striker was criticised for his performance against Arsenal.

The Chelsea No. 9 has had a flying start to life at Chelsea, but could not improve on his tally of three goals and two assists.

His critics feel he is lacking in the physical section and Conte has dismissed any such criticism, as he maintains he is happy with his performance against Arsenal.

“I don’t know [if his physicality is a problem],” Conte said at his post-match news conference. “In my opinion, Morata played a really good game.

“I’m very happy with his performance. In my opinion, for me, he played very well today. He had a lot of the ball and tried to send Willian, Pedro, our wing-backs [forward with his passes].

“He played a really good game. We are focused on whether the No.9 scores or not.

“If he scored he played a good game, if he doesn’t he didn’t have a good game. But I was happy with his performance. We see different things.”

Replacing Lukaku Is A Big Risk - KOEMAN


Everton manager, Ronald Koeman says replacing Romelu Lukaku is an almost impossible task.

The Belgium international striker left Goodison Park for Old Trafford in the summer for a fee of £75 million.

Lukaku scored 25 goals last season for Everton and has only been at the club for four years and Koeman says replacing the number of goals is a huge task.

“I don’t say impossible, but that was close to impossible to get someone in who will score that amount of goals that Romelu scored for Everton,” the Dutchman said, via the Liverpool Echo .

“With Romelu we had enough fights about how he needs to press, how he needs to run, how he needs to move but in the box, with opportunities to score, he is one of the best.

“It is always difficult to replace players like him because of the person he was, the physical boy that he is, the number of goals that he scored. It is difficult.”

Wayne Rooney Deserves A Legend’s Welcome At Manchester United - Jose Mourinho


Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has urged supporters to give Wayne Rooney “the welcome he deserves” when returning to Old Trafford with Everton this weekend.

Wayne left the Red Devils as the club’s all-time top scorer in the summer, 13 years after joining from Everton as a teenager.

Rooney netted 253 goals in all for United on his way to winning five Premier League titles, the FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League.

Mourinho believes that a legend’s welcome should be on the cards for the Englishman, who is in line to feature despite his personal life coming into focus in recent weeks.

“I think he will get the welcome he deserves,” he told reporters. “I think sometimes the word legend in this country comes too easy, that’s not the case with him.

“He’s a real legend – the number of goals, trophies, he’s clearly one of the most important players in Manchester United’s history and I think the stadium will show him the respect he deserves, I hope before the match and after the match, not during the match.”

Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte is impressed with Alvaro Morata and says the striker is eager to become the best.

Morata was acquired by Chelsea for a fee of £70 million to replace Costa, who is eager for a move to Atletico and is away from the club.

The Spain international striker has been in excellent form since joining Chelsea, scoring three goals and assisting two, much to the delight of Conte.

“Morata is a really good striker, don’t forget Alvaro is very young,” Conte told reporters at Cobham Training Centre. “I think he can improve a lot. Despite being a young player, he has played with Real Madrid and Juventus, in his career he won a lot.

TMZ is reporting that Kanye West has asked to meet with JAY-Z to settle the feud between both of them.

JAY-Z, while speaking in an interview on Rap Radar, said Kanye crossed the line when he brought his wife and daughter into their dispute.

JAY-Z had also addressed the issue in a track “Kill JAY-Z” of his latest album “4:44”. He had said in the song:

I know people backstab you, I feel bad too/ But this ‘f— everybody’ attitude ain’t natural/ But you ain’t the same, this ain’t KumbaYe/ But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye/ You gave him 20 million without blinkin’/ He gave you 20 minutes on stage, f— was he thinkin’?/ ‘F— wrong with everybody?’ is what you sayin’/ But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane.

TMZ’s sources say they both “seem to be reconciling, adding they have the classic love/hate relationship and frequently bounce back between the two emotions,” adding that the financial dispute over TIDAL is being resolved.

MATCH PREVIEW: Cameroon vs Nigeria

The Super Eagles travel to Yaounde seeking all three points that will qualify them for Russia 2018 against the indomitable lions.

The teams met in a Group B clash on Friday night and Nigeria powered to 4-0 victory on hone soil in Uyo, thanks to goals from Odion Ighalo, John Obi Mikel, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho

A win in Yaounde, combined with a win or draw for Algeria against Zambia in the other Group B match on Tuesday, and Nigeria will be able to book their flights to Russia.

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr dedicated the victory on Friday to goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who is currently battling Leukemia, and praised gloves-man Ikechukwu Ezenwa, who put in a strong showing against the Indomitable Lions.

“Before the match we pledged to win it for Carl and that we delivered tonight,” said the German tactician after the match.

“He kept well, just like the defence showed a lot of organisation and discipline.”

Rohr also outlined his plan for the remainder of the qualifiers, starting with the match against Cameroon.

“We need 11 points to qualify and now we have nine,” he explained.
“We must avoid defeat in Cameroon and fight for the remaining point in the remaining two matches against Algeria and Zambia.”

Rohr added, “We had a good mix of experience and youth, which was key to our victory. It is not finished yet, that is why we remain very humble.”

As for Cameroon coach Hugo Broos, the Belgian has admitted that his side’s hopes of reaching the World Cup are gone after the heavy loss in Uyo.

"There is no pressure anymore on Monday, Nigeria have nine points, we have two points," Broos explained.

“But there is only an honour to defend, there is no importance to this. I just hope my players will have the same mentality that I have - that they will fight on Monday till the last minute - to beat Nigeria.
"If we had won this game, we would have a chance, but we lost it and I hope everyone will learn from this."

Gambian referee Bakary Gassama will take charge of the match in Yaounde on Monday evening.

The other Group B match between Algeria and Zambia will be held in Constantine on Tuesday

Peace Letter Obama left for Trump before leaving White House



In what is an American tradition, Barack Obama, former president of the United States, left a letter for the incoming president Donald Trump before he vacated office.

In the letter released by CNN, Obama highlighted what a responsibility the presidency is, saying “Millions have placed their hopes on you.”

He said it is up to Trump to ensure “ladders of success” are built to enable hard working families prosper.

He asked that Trump adhere to the guardians of democracy, like the rule of law and civil liberties, that past leaders had “fought and bled for.”

He also urged that Trump spend time with his family, and that the former first lady Michelle, and himself, wished he and Melania well.

Trump had back in January, upon his assumption of office, called the letter beautiful.

Dear Mr. President –
Congratulations on a remarkable run. Millions have placed their hopes in you, and all of us, regardless of party, should hope for expanded prosperity and security during your tenure.
This is a unique office, without a clear blueprint for success, so I don’t know that any advice from me will be particularly helpful. Still, let me offer a few reflections from the past 8 years.
First, we’ve both been blessed, in different ways, with great good fortune. Not everyone is so lucky. It’s up to us to do everything we can (to) build more ladders of success for every child and family that’s willing to work hard.
Second, American leadership in this world really is indispensable. It’s up to us, through action and example, to sustain the international order that’s expanded steadily since the end of the Cold War, and upon which our own wealth and safety depend.
Third, we are just temporary occupants of this office. That makes us guardians of those democratic institutions and traditions — like rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties — that our forebears fought and bled for. Regardless of the push and pull of daily politics, it’s up to us to leave those instruments of our democracy at least as strong as we found them.

RUSSIA 2018: Which Teams are Likely to Qualify for the Tournament.



The race to qualify for the 2018 World Cup in Russia is drawing to a dramatic conclusion around the globe. Russia qualify as hosts, and four other nations — Brazil, Iran, Japan and Mexico — have already made it.

Here Jay looks at how each region is shaping up...

*AFC - 46 teams competing for 4.5 places Qualified: Iran, Japan

War-torn Syria are remarkably still in contention to reach a first World Cup — but on Tuesday they realistically need a result against Iran to keep their dream alive. Iran and Japan have qualified, leaving five nations — Syria, Saudi Arabia, Australia, South Korea and Uzbekistan — chasing four slots: two to reach Russia, two for a final to reach a play-off against a CONCACAF side.

Australia, with Aaron Mooy of Huddersfield, go to Thailand and need to better Saudi Arabia’s result at home to Japan by more than two goals for automatic qualification.

*CONCACAF - 35 teams competing for 3.5 places Qualified: Mexico ((Mexico, with West Ham striker Javier Hernandez, booked their spot in Russia with a 1-0 win on Friday against Panama, but United States are in trouble after losing 2-0 at home to Costa Rica.

There are two more automatic places and one play-off berth against an AFC country, with Costa Rica in pole position for an automatic spot.

Honduras could also pip the USA to automatic qualification while Panama and Trinidad & Tobago are in contention in a qualifying fight that ends on October 10.

*CAF - 54 Teams competing for 5 places There are 20 teams in five groups chasing Africa’s five places in this third and final qualifying phase. Everything is up for grabs, no group is past halfway.

Nigeria have the only 100 per cent record (three wins from three, three to play) and look likely to book their place at next years showpiece after demolishing 2017 African Champions 4-0 in Akwa Ibom if they win in Yaounde on Monday.

DR Congo and Uganda are surprise early leaders in other groups.

*CONMEBOL - 10 teams competing for 4.5 places Qualified: Brazil Lionel Messi and Argentina are still struggling to qualify after a 0-0 draw with Uruguay last week.

Rivals Brazil have already qualified though and six other nations, including Argentina, in the 10-team section are still in contention for the three other automatic slots and a play-off berth against an Oceania team, probably New Zealand.

Five points separate those seven with three games left. Second-placed Colombia, with Tottenham new boy Davinson Sanchez, face Brazil on Tuesday.

Uruguay and Chile are one and two points behind them, and Arsenal’s wantaway forward Alexis Sanchez will need to be focused when Chile travel to out-of-contention Bolivia this midweek.

*OFC - 11 teams competing for 0.5 places A hat-trick from Burnley’s new £15million striker Chris Wood means New Zealand are as good as qualified for an intercontinental play-off against the fifth-best side in South America in November.

The prize is a place in Russia. Thanks to Wood’s heroics, the Kiwis are 6-1 up against Solomon Islands after one leg of their two-legged play-off final.

If (when) they finish the job on Tuesday, Argentina remain a possible final, sizeable hurdle.

*UEFA - 54 teams competing for 13 places Romelu Lukaku and his highly rated Belgium team-mates will become the first European nation to qualify for the tournament (aside from Russia, who are in as hosts), on Sunday if they avoid defeat against Greece in Piraeus. Germany could follow them as early as Monday, other results depending.

Spain and Italy met on Saturday and look to share the top two places in Group G, the winner definitely going to Russia and the other into the play-offs.

England can move within sight of automatic qualification with a win.

ZAMBIA ALL BUT END ALGERIA WORLD CUP HOPES WITH 3-1 TRIUMPH


Brian Mwila struck twice as Zambia secured a surprise victory over Algeria at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka on Saturday to all but end the North African heavyweights' hopes of a third consecutive World Cup appearance.

The visitors responded through Yacine Brahimi in the second half, but despite losing Fashion Sakala to a red card, Zambia killed off any hopes of an Algerian comeback in the 88th minute when Enock Mwepu struck on the counter.

The result leaves Algeria bottom of Group B after three matches, with Lucas Alcaraz's side having taken just one point from their fixtures to date.

They remain eight points behind leaders Nigeria following their 4-0 thrashing of Africa's champions Cameroon on Friday, while Zambia move up to four, ahead of the Indomitable Lions, in third, on two points.

Zambia failed to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and started their World Cup qualifying campaign sluggishly, but were vibrant from the off against Algeria, taking the lead in the sixth minute when Mwila rose above the visiting defence to head past Rais M'Bolhi. The newly acquired Platinum Stars forward added to his tally in the 32nd minute when he reacted quickest to poke home from close range after M'Bolhi had spilled the ball in the box.

Algeria improved after the break, and Brahimi halved the deficit with a delicious effort from outside the area that evaded Zambian stopper Kennedy Mweene.

The visitors' hopes of completing the comeback were boosted when Sakala received a second yellow card for a reckless challenge and he was sent off in tears in the 56th minute.

However, despite the introduction of Rachid Ghezzal and Idriss Saadi, Algeria struggled to break down the home side's defence and their efforts grew increasingly frantic as the game wore on.

Ultimately, Mwepu sealed all three points for the home side two minutes from time when he lashed a ball across M'Bolhi's goal and into the far corner as the hosts caught Algeria on the counter attack.

The two sides meet in the reverse fixture in Constantine on Tuesday, and while Algeria will be boosted by the return of Riyad Mahrez, they will already be eliminated if Nigeria beat Cameroon in Yaounde on Monday.

Super Eagles Remain Top of Group B As They Beat Cameroon 4 – 0


Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Friday remain Group B leaders in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after whipping the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

After a tentative beginning, which saw both sides being cautious, the hosts moved into high gear after 15 minutes and were almost opening scores in the 19th minute.

In the 24th minute, Victor Moses had a free kick goal ruled offside, five minutes after he had miscued his shot following a Mikel Obi pass.

After Moses sent a 27th minute header over the bar, the Eagles got on the scoresheet two minutes later through Odion Ighalo.

He shrugged off a defender to run onto a pass, turn another defender to the left before sending a low shot with his left into the corner of the net.

The Eagles did not remove their feet from the throttle and were duly rewarded in the 43rd minute when Mikel Obi side-footed past goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa.

A Moses corner kick from the left side had caught the Cameroonian defense ball-watching, and the Nigeria captain slid past to push the ball in. Cameroon’s fightback in the second half was feeble in the face of the commanding Nigerian defense line which had Leon Balogun all over and William Troost-Ekong stifling the opponents play.

With goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa putting up a superb performance, the Super Eagles were confident to hunt for more goals. A flowing move from a counter-attack, set off by Troost-Ekong, saw Obi sending on Moses in the 55th minute.

The Chelsea wing forward drew out the Indomitable Lions central defenders before putting on Shehu Abdullahi who cut back for a running Moses to score with a composed finish.

With Cameroon looking deflated, the Eagles had more time to add another goal, through substitute Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Leicester City forward stooped to head home an Ogenyi Onazi low cross after the Eagles had sent some confusion into the Cameroon defense.

The win means the Eagles now have nine points from three matches, leading the four-team group with seven points.

They visit Cameroon on Monday, with a draw putting them in position to start preparing for the 2018 World Cup finals.
