I’m Disappointed At The State Of Nigerian Hip-hop – M.I Abaga

In a recent interview, Chocolate City rapper, M.I Abaga spoke about a range of topics including the state of Hip-hop in Nigeria and the topics explored on his forthcoming project.

The revered rapper stated that he is disappointed at the state of Hip-hop in the country and the fact that South African rappers are dominating the continent’s Hip-Hop community. He further talked about his soon-to-drop EP, Yung Denzel, which he said would be addressing the issue.

From Sniffing Glue to drinking Cough Syrup… Episode 6 of ‘Professor JohnBull’ takes on Drug Use

Two Nollywood legends, Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK) and Patience Ozokwor, a.k.a. Mama G, join hands in the new episode of the Globacom-sponsored TV drama series, Professor Johnbull, to campaign against the use of hard drugs and other dangerous substances by youths in society..

In the episode entitled High People, Mama G collaborates with KOK, who plays the role of the erudite Professor Johnbull, in organising a seminar on the adverse effects of hard drugs. However, the bubble bursts as a regular on the sitcom, Flash the Boy (Stephen Odimgbe) is rushed in, almost running mad as a result of the hard drug he takes from a fellow student identified as MacChukwu Ilodibe.

Besides Flash, who takes “a puff of solution”, the episode also shows Jumoke (Bidemi Kosoko) trying to ‘get high’, as a result of disappointment by her boyfriend, by drinking cough syrup, one of the substances many youths abuse in order to be ‘high’ and feel better after a depressing experience.

The scholar, Professor Johnbull, draws attention of the public to the alarming number of young people who are hooked on drugs simply because they erroneously believe that they need the drugs to excel in life or that such drugs enhance their capabilities. Characteristically, the professor emphasises the fact that a lot of patients in the nation’s psychiatric hospitals are victims of hard drugs, a situation, he says, is completely preventable.

He also counsels that, because the drugs are addictive in nature, prolonged use of the substances eventually destroys vital organs of the body. The episode also exposes the fact that in an attempt to ‘get high’, many young men and women sniff gutters, sewage pipes, fuel and glue. Other regulars of the series who feature in High People are Caro (Mercy Johnson-Okojie), Churchill (Jnr. Pope Odonwodo) and Abadnego (Martins Nebo).

Coleman: Madrid Boos Do Not Affect Bale

Wales boss, Seamus Coleman insists Gareth Bale is unfazed and unaffected by the boos from the Real Madrid fans.

The Wales forward was heavily criticised by the home fans in the 2-2 draw against Valencia, as Asensio played hero.

Bale is currently preparing for Wales World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Moldova and Coleman believes he can handle the club pressure.

“This latest episode won’t faze him at all,” Coleman said on Tuesday. “People wondered how he would handle it when he went to Real Madrid [in 2013] because you are like a film star there, but he absolutely cruised through it.

“He’s answered all the critics. He’s matured in the last four or five years and come through it with flying colours.”

Yemi Alade To Release 3rd Studio Album Titled “Black Magic”, This October

Following the release of her new praised single “Knack Am”, Yemi Alade has confirmed that her third studio album will be hitting stores this year. The LP which follows Alade’s previous successful albums “King of Queens” and “Mama Africa”, is titled “Black Magic”.

The Voice Nigeria coach/judge took to her social media to reveal the set’s details with a haunting album reveal image which disclosed the title and the release month of the body of music. She also gifted an Instagram follower, the sum of one hundred thousand naira of guessing the album title following her promoting the hashtag #BM on social media.

Fans of music should brace up because “Black Magic” would be available in its entirety come October of 2017. Although details regarding album artwork, tracklist, collaborations and producers remain unknown; the DJ Coublon produced “Knack Am” is confirmed to be housed on the album and serves as the set’s lead single.

Watford Manager Marco Silva Speaks About The Possibility Of Signing Benfica’s Andre Carrillo

Watford manager Marco Silva says no deal is in place yet to sign Andre Carrillo on loan from Benfica.

But the Hornets boss admitted that Carrillo is “a player I know very well”, having worked with the Peru international during his time at Sporting Lisbon.

Andre Carrillo is currently with Benfica but has been strongly linked with a loan move to Vicarage Road and Silva confirmed that he is hoping to acquire further reinforcements. “We will see what we can do,” Marco Silva said.

“Our owner knows what we believe are the better solutions for our squad and we expect to finalise some of them before 31 August.

“Our board is working hard to try and sign the players we need.

“I don’t want to talk at the moment, not only about Carrillo, I don’t want to talk about the players of other teams. “I can talk when the players sign with us. When they are our players, I will talk about them.

“At this moment he is a Benfica player, I don’t want to talk about the player.

“If you ask me if I know the player, of course I know the player. “He is a player who worked with me at Sporting. He is a player I know very well but at this moment he is a Benfica player.”

MC Galaxy has in an interview with Hip TV addressed his spat with singer Cynthia Morgan.

The two had exchanged words after MC Galaxy asked Tekno not to wade into Davido and Wizkid‘s beef.

Cynthia Morgan had said her two singles are better than MC Galaxy’s two albums. In the interview, Galaxy said he didn’t expect Cynthia Morgan to attack him as the two of them are friends.

Shatta Wale steps out in a Lambo on "Dem Confuse" video

Shatta Wale is one of the most loved stars in Africa, but this time he's issued a warning to his haters on his new music video, "Dem Confuse".

The Ghanaian singer is working harder than ever to claim the Dancehall crown and his new music video is a reminder that there are actually very few artists on his level. The video starts in grainy black and white before bursting into colour once the star of the show drives in in a Lamborghini.

For the video, they opened up treatment submissions to all CPS high school students, ultimately selecting one student’s treatment to make the concept for the video. Ashley Huicochea was the winning student who worked with directors Vincent Martell & Sam Bailey of VAM Studio on the set during the shoot.

Six other students who were runners up worked on other parts of the production.

Sanchez Is Leaving In 2018 - Wenger

Arsene Wenger has stated it is a possibility for Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal for free next year.

Arsenal have not been able to reach an agreement on a renewal with Sanchez, with his contract set to expire in June.

The Chile international has constantly been linked with a move to PSG, with Manchester City also interested in him.

“We’ve not made any progress on that front,” he admitted when asked about a new contract for Alexis. “Him leaving for free is a consequence of what I say – unfortunately.

“We have to make a choice between efficiency on the field and financial interest. Most of time if you can find a good compromise it is better, but in this case I think I will prioritise the sporting side.”

Sergio Busquets said any new signings would be “welcome” as Barcelona continue to be linked with Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

“We try to improve the team regardless of the result of the Super Cup match (against Real Madrid),” he said. “Those who come will be welcome.

“After Neymar’s departure, we know that we need mostly offensive players, but we need to improve in all positions and aspects.

Boateng Leaves Las Palmas

Kevin Prince Boateng has left Las Palmas by mutual agreement, the La Liga club has announced.

The former Milan and Tottenham star still has three years left on his contract after signing a contract extension in May. However, Boateng has had to leave the Canary Islands club due to personal reasons.

Las Palmas face Valencia on Friday in their La Liga opener and a statement released by the club read: “UD Las Palmas wishes [Boateng] the best success, at a sport level as much as a personal one, and will always be grateful for the excellent performance in his season with the Yellows and for the sympathies he awoke among the supporters.”

Philippe Coutinho Leaving Liverpool Would Be Awful -Roberto Firmino

Roberto Firmino has reportedly admitted that it would be “awful” to see Philippe Coutinho leave the club.

Philippe Coutinho is believed to have submitted a transfer request via email after learning of Barcelona‘s interest.

The Catalan giants, who recently sold Neymar for a fee thought to be around £196m, have reportedly had a £72m bid for Coutinho and an offer in the region of £80m rejected by the Reds.

The 25-year-old missed Saturday’s Premier League opening 3-3 draw with Watford due to a back injury, and he has not travelled with the squad for tonight’s Champions League first leg qualifier against Hoffenheim.

Twitter account @BrazilStat has quoted Firmino as saying: “I prefer to not think of [Coutinho leaving] because it’d be awful. He’s a great player but also a great friend to me.”

Davinson Sanchez Tells Ajax He Wants To Join Tottenham

Davinson Sanchez has informed Ajax he wants to join Tottenham, reports the Independent.

The Colombia international is understood have rejected a move to Barcelona last year due to fears of a lack of game time.

But with Mauricio Pochettino believe to be interested in the 21-year-old, the defender has now revealed his desire to leave the Eredivisie club.

Sanchez’s importance was evident as last season’s Europa League finalists lost against their Eredivisie rivals for the first time in 52 years.

Despite Ajax having sold their top talent throughout their illustrious history, it is understood they are holding out for upwards of £45million.

And that would make him the club’s highest-ever sale — and record purchase for Spurs.

He joined from Atletico Nacional last summer, and his performances have seen Barcelona among the clubs interested in signing him.

Drake and Future Accused of Negligent Hiring in $25 Million Lawsuit From Concertgoer

Drake and Future have found themselves in a legal situation after a fan attended their Summer Sixteen tour. The two rappers are among a group of defendants who are facing a $25 million lawsuit for negligence in hiring a security guard for a Nashville concert who allegedly coaxed the plaintiff to a backstage area and raped her.

In court documents obtained by MpTrace Media, the alleged victim states that she was approached by a man associated with the Bridgestone Arena where the concert was being held. This man was later identified as Leavy Johnson.

According to the complaint, the employee offered to take the fan backstage to meet the performers.

Instead of meeting the rappers, however, Leavy allegedly pushed the victim "to the ground and violently assaulted and raped her, shattering her cell phone and causing severe physical and psychological injury."

Leavy was ultimately arrested and currently awaits trial.

The plaintiff argues that "each and every one of the defendants was the agent of the others in the context of the event, and, as a result, each is responsible for the conduct of the others."

In addition, they argue that the defendants had a duty to ensure that their employees, agents and independent contractors did not harm concert attendees.

Back in the summer of 2016, Drake and Future collaborated on the Summer Sixteen tour that became the highest grossing hip-hop tour of 2016.

Arsenal defeats Leicester City 4-3 in an explicit way
